I’ll be straightforward — I was stuck. 110 kilos, even though I was training 3–4 times a week and trying to eat reasonably. The weight just wasn’t moving. Probably a familiar situation for many of you.
I’ve been in the peptide world for a while now, researching and testing different protocols. Retatrutide was one I hadn’t tried myself yet. I decided to give it a go.
Protocol
I started on February 17th. Dose 2mg, once every six days. After a few weeks I bumped it up to 4mg. Training stayed the same — 3–4 gym sessions per week. I didn’t start any special diet.
What happened
The first thing I noticed was appetite. Not in a “I’m hungry but I have to resist” kind of way — more that fast food just stopped being interesting. I naturally started choosing healthier food. It was a surprisingly subtle shift, but a significant one.
Weight started dropping steadily — about one kilo per week on average. Nothing dramatic overnight, but consistent week after week.
Other observations:
- Sleep improved. I wake up feeling more rested than before.
- More energy throughout the day.
- People around me started commenting that I look healthier.
- I don’t crave fast food the way I used to.
Side effects — the honest part
I want to be transparent about this because nobody benefits from pretending everything is perfect.
After the very first injection, I felt nauseous and threw up once the next morning. After that though, nausea has barely been an issue. The only time I get that queasy feeling now is if I’ve eaten too much — which I actually consider a positive thing. It’s like a built-in signal telling me to stop. Your body learns to listen pretty quickly.
At the 4mg dose, my skin has become slightly sensitive to touch. Nothing painful or bothersome really, but noticeable.
I’ve also noticed that I get headaches easily if I forget to drink enough water and get my electrolytes in. Honestly, I see this as a good side effect too — it forces me to stay properly hydrated, which I should have been doing all along.
Two things I wasn’t expecting at all: my desire to drink alcohol has practically disappeared. I’ve had a few beers during these 12 weeks, but the urge just isn’t there anymore. And my nicotine cravings have dropped to almost zero. I didn’t start Retatrutide for either of those reasons, but it’s a welcome bonus.
Summary
Retatrutide worked for me. It’s not a magic potion — training and diet still need to be in order — but it made food choices easier and weight loss more consistent than anything else I’ve tried. As a triple agonist (GLP-1, GIP, glucagon), it affects multiple mechanisms simultaneously, which probably explains why the response has been so steady.
The side effects have been manageable and mostly minor. Some of them, like the nausea from overeating and the headaches from poor hydration, actually helped me build better habits.
If weight loss has been painfully slow despite training and dieting, Retatrutide might be worth trying.
